The Demon Deacons took the lead with 1:01 remaining in the game to get a big 34-30 upset victory over rival NC State. Branson Combs dashed the last hopes of the 'Pack with an interception shortly after the game winning run. Wake QB Hank Bachmeier passed for 154 yards and 2 scores with one going to receiver Horatio Fields, and the other going to running back Demond Claiborne. Claiborne also rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns. NC State freshman QB C.J. Bailey passed for 272 yards and 2 scores in relief of QB Grayson McCall, who was injured early in the contest. Kendrick Raphael rushed for a score, and Justin Joly along with Keenan Jackson notched receiving TD's for NC State.
