Pearl's coach recollects about one of the most iconic players in school history.
The Syracuse Orange community lost a legend when it was announced that Pearl Washington had passed awayfollowing a fight with brain cancer. Jim Boeheim has said on many occassions that he considers Washington to be the most important player in the history of SU Basketball, not to mention a good friend in the years since.
Boeheim spoke with the media on Wednesday following the news and it was a rare glimpse into the heart of the longtime Orange coach.
"We’ve been fortunate to have had a lot of great players here, but there was only one guy like him."
R.I.P., Pearl.
