Wake Forest landed a very good prospect on Monday afternoon.
The Wake Forest basketball program received some excellent news on Monday afternoon. Melo Eggleston, a 4-star small forward out of the Baltimore area, has committed to play basketball at Wake Forest University. He is the first member of the 2017 recruiting class to commit to Danny Manning and the Demon Deacons. What else do we know about him?
Can't progress without struggle, I'm still the chosen ONE #BlessedBreed #Deacon21 ?? ?? pic.twitter.com/5GL3LX6Oe0

Melo Eggleston attends Clinton Christian School in Baltimore, Maryland. Melo is a 6'8", 180-pound small forward who has excellent athleticism. He can attack from the wing and finish at the rim. He chose Wake Forest over a host of offers, including Syracuse, Baylor, and UNLV. He has great length and should bolster the depth at wing.
While Melo's rankings have declined over the past several months, I believe in Manning's ability to identify talent. Clearly enough head coaches thought enough of him to extend him an offer. This is an excellent start to the 2017 recruiting class for the Demon Deacons. Wake will have have at least one additional scholarship to offer, and other spots could always open up due to attrition. It's unclear what other positions that Manning and his staff will be targeting during the 2017 class, but wing has been an apparent priority for the staff this cycle.
Please join me in welcoming Melo to Wake Forest!
