Clemson got on board early back in June when they landed an exceptional talent at the linebacker position in Mike Jones Jr. He is ranked early on as one of the top linebackers in the country already and is a great start to the Tigers 2018 recruiting class.
But with his commitment coming back in early June, just how strong is he on the Tigers. It seems pretty strong.
“Right now, I’m 100 percent committed to Clemson,” he said. “I’m not going to be visiting anybody else.”
Clemson looks to be solid in his eyes already and if he doesn’t take any more visits, he certainly should be a leader for the Tigers and their 2018 class. The only schools he actually visited this summer was Clemson and South Carolina and that is pretty much it for now.
Jones’ relationship with the staff is pretty strong early on and is one of the reasons why he decided Clemson is the place for him. That, plus having family near, are two of the main factors that came into his decision.
“My relationship with the staff, I would probably say is the biggest reason,” he said. “Also, I have a lot of family in Greenville, so I really get the best of both worlds with being near my family and having a staff that is like family to me.”
Jones already held double-digit offers when he made his announcement, including programs like Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, NC State, UNC, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.
