Matchup of Top 10 Teams in Tallahassee
Tuesday night has two games on deck, but a Top 10 showdown will be the highlight of the night down in Tallahassee.
No. 7 Duke travels down to No. 9 Florida State for a big Top-10 matchup in the ACC and one that could possibly have some factor in the conference.
The Blue Devils came in as the favorite to take the ACC but with such a deep conference, the race could go deep into the season. But the Seminoles might have something to say about that early on, as they sit 3-0 in the conference and looking for what would be their biggest win so far this season, keeping them in first place in the conference.
Duke comes in struggling with injuries, including forward Amile Jefferson, as they go up against an FSU team that posts two seven footers on the court.
Sophomore Dwayne Bacon has been sensational this season, averaging 18.1 points per game, while freshman Jonathan Isaac has contributed 12.2 points and 7.4 rebounds. But the difference this season is that the Seminoles have produced on the offensive end, averaging nearly 87 points per game.
But the Noles will have to deal with guard Luke Kennard, who is averaging 20.3 points, while freshmen Jayson Tatum (17.0ppg/ 7.1rpg) and Harry Giles look to also step up big. Not to mention Grayson Allen, who has returned from suspension.
Hokies Look to Bounce Back against Syracuse
After entering the Top 25 with a win against Duke, the Hokies now look to stop a two-game losing streak in which their defense has struggled, giving up an average of 98.5 points per game to their opponents in the last two.
The Cuse, who struggled early on, have now put together two solid wins in conference play against Pittsburgh and Miami, both at home.
Five players recorded 34 or more minutes, with three of them playing all 40 minutes for Syracsue against Pittsburgh, but the offense came together, as four players scored double figures. Key though for the Orange is on the defensive end, as opponents who score over 70 points, Syracuse is 2-4 on the season.
Virginia Tech hadn't allowed opponents to go over 90 points in any game this season but allowed NC State and Florida State to do just that in their past two losses.
This is the 11th all-time matchup between these two teams and the Orange own an 8-2 overall record and have won the last eight games against the Hokies.
