Do you know who was picked to finish 5th in the Coastal Last year? It was Georgia Tech. They went on to a top 10 finish and a Coastal Division Title. Duke was picked 7th in 2013 and won the Coastal Title. Pittsburgh was actually picked to finish 6th this year in the Coastal, so it’s certainly possible they are being underrated the same as Georgia Tech and Duke. There are two reasons why… James Conner and Tyler Boyd.
Pittsburgh may have the best RB/WR combination not only the ACC, but the country. These are two All-American caliber skill position players. There is experience at QB with Chad Votik returning. Offensively this is a very dangerous team.
The consensus is that new head coach Pat Narduzzi was an excellent hire and I agree. He’s a defensive specialist that should be able to improve the Panthers on that side of the ball. Remember Pittsburgh lost 5 games by 5 points or less. This is a program that was closer to an 8-10 win season that many people think. The problem is you can make argument for anyone in the Coastal outside of Virginia to win the division. It was more or less someone had to be picked 6th.
That said if you think Pittsburgh can’t win the division you’d be sorely mistaken.
