The ACC went 3-3 on Tuesday night as the ACC/Big Ten Challenge continued meaning the event is tied up at 4 wins a piece going into tonight's six games.
Pitt was perhaps the most impressive team of the night, blitzing Maryland in the 1st half and leading by 20 points. To establish the dominance of the PItt offense, consider that they made 81% of their 2's in the first 20 minutes. Maryland did give Pitt a bit of a game, but the first half dominance proved to much.
As good as Pitt was, NC State was equally disappointing. The Pack were favored in this one, but its never easy winning on the road. NC State simply couldn't hang on to the ball or get stops. The Pack turned it over on 26% of possessions and saw Illinois make 7 3's, and get to the line 26 times (where they made 21 free throws).
Duke won the marquee matchup of the night, beating Michigan State 78-69 despite using just a 6 man rotation. Grayson Allen and Luke Kennard led the scoring attack while Amile Jefferson tallied yet another double-double. The Blue Devils have found different ways to beat teams, on Tuesday it was forcing turnovers. Michigan State turned it over on 24% of possessions and Duke turned those into 19 points. Throw in the fact that Duke out-Sparty'd Sparty winning the 2nd chance points battle 16-2 and Duke walked a way the winner.
Elsewhere, Notre Dame put together another solid shooting night and Bonzie Colson did the work on the boards to lead Notre Dame past Iowa. Wisconsin gave Syracuse a humbling loss. The Orange couldn't get stops and Jim Boeheim wasn't happy about it. Penn State beat Georgia Tech 67-60 in the other game on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets made just 34% of 2's and just couldn't find consistency on the offensive end.
Six more games tonight highlighted by UNC at Indiana and Ohio State at Virginia. Check out previews and more on those games below.
