We decided before the BCS Title game that we're not claiming Notre Dame yet, right? Although that did look a lot like ACC football... That's beside the point though. Before we get into tonight's basketball game between Duke and Clemson I wanted to selfishly point out something that every ACC fan should take note of. The ACC launched a new daily show yesterday which airs online at noon every day. The show is called ACC Live and airs on The ACC Digital Network. I'll be appearing on the show for a short segment once or twice a week, and will be on today's show. Make sure to check it out.
Tonight Duke hosts Clemson in the second conference game of the season for both teams. The # Blue Devils should win this game. For Clemson, you have to make this an ugly, physical game. Attack Ryan Kelly on the defensive end with the hope you can get him in foul trouble. It's Kelly (not Plumlee) that is the key for Duke on both ends of the floor. You have to defend the 3, especially in transition, and limit the Blue Devils to 4 or fewer 3 pointers made. Someone on the perimeter must step up and hit open shots to create space for Booker down low.
That's the path to a Clemson victory, of course Ryan Kelly is a smart defender, Duke shoots the 3 better than most teams, and the Blue Devils can play a little defense as well. The strength of this Duke team is its scoring versatility. They can beat solid teams even when 2 guys have an off night. Even more difficult is taking a young backcourt into Cameron and asking them to play with poise. Hard to see Clemson being in this one by the time we reach halftime.
