Over the past two games Miami has proven they can win ugly. First Clemson on Sunday, and Virginia at home last night. The Hurricanes caught a few breaks on Sunday but they simply made winning plays in their win over Virginia.
In the final minute, the Hurricanes executed and countered every punch Virginia threw at them. After Larkin made a layup to give Virginia a 2 point lead in the final seconds, Miami showed its experience making a game clinching play. At the time UVA had zero timeouts, and was trying to hurry up the floor to tie the game. Durand Scott turned around and intercepted the inbounds pass and was fouled. Scott hit both free throws to clinch it and give us the 54-50 final margin.
Shane Larkin led Miami with 11 points and 6 assists while Rion Brown also added double-figures with 10 points. A game after Miami was 3-19 from the 3 point line, the Canes were just 1-7 against Virginia. Joe Harris led UVA with 16 points in the loss.
Elsewhere in the ACC, UNC and NC State did everything they could to raise the intrigue surrounding their game on Saturday. The Heels won at Georgia Tech 70-58 behind 22 points and 11 rebounds from James Michael McAdoo. NC State took care of FSU 84-66 at home, but it was a freshman leading the way for the Pack. TJ Warren finished with 31 points and 13 rebounds on 12-15 shooting.
A game after Maryland picked up a win over Duke, the Terps went to Boston College and lost 69-58. Olivier Hanlan led BC with 26 points, while Logan Aronhalt led the Terps with 26 points. The Eagles won despite just 2 points from Ryan Anderson.
