Odd scheduling this week for the ACC, 3 games on Tuesday and 3 games on Thursday, with no action on Wednesday. That doesn't happen very often, but nonetheless the scheduling gives us three solid Thursday night games.
Clemson and Virginia face off at 7 ET in Charlottesville. It's probably a good thing that this one isn't a 9 o'clock tip because its likely to remind you of paint drying on a wall. Both teams like to play a slower tempo, physical style game so look for this one to decided by the first team to get to the 50 point mark.
Maryland travels to Virginia Tech for a 9 o'clock tip which should be an interesting game. The Terps have several defenders that they can matchup on Erick Green to give different looks. I'd expect Dez Wells, Nick Faust, and Pe'Shon Howard to be matched up on him the most. On the other side of the ball, the Hokies have a big frontcourt to matchup with Alex Len. I won't be surprised if the Hokies win this one and would qualify a Terps win as a good win if they can managed to come out ahead.
The marquee matchup of the night has Duke hosting NC State. It sounds like NC State will be playing without Lorenzo Brown once again. While Tyler Lewis and Rodney Purvis held their own at the point against Miami, playing in Cameron Indoor Stadium can be another story. The Wolfpack can't afford to turn the ball over and give Duke easy points and subsequently get the crowd involved. Duke will be playing without Josh Hairston and while it may not seem like a huge loss, it makes Duke extremely thin in the frontcourt.
Of course yesterday was college football signing day, Will Ojanen gives his thoughts on each ACC team and their incoming classes.
