The ACC capped off a 6-1 opening round as Syracuse and Notre Dame advanced on Friday, while Pitt lost an ugly one to Wisconsin.
Syracuse was quite impressive winning big over Dayton to start the day off. The Orange were led by Malachi Richardson's 21 points and Tyler Roberson's 18 rebounds. The Orange also were tough on defense allowing Dayton to make just 32% of shots. Syracuse gets Cinderella on Sunday as they'll face off with #15 Middle Tennessee who busted brackets by beating #2 Michigan State.
Pitt will wish they could have their game to do over again. As one tweet said, Pitt was up 12 in the lowest scoring game in NCAA history and lost. Read more on that one here... if you dare.
Notre Dame faced off with Michigan in a late one and the Irish and Wolverines were seemingly mirror images of one another. The Wolverines had control of the game for most of the way before VJ Beachem made his mark. Beachem hit several key shots down the stretch and ended up with 18 points on 7-7 shooting. The Irish get another darling of the tournament, facing up with #13 seed Stephen F. Austin. Read more on the Notre Dame win here.
