Best and Worst case record for Syracuse football in 2018

Let's take a look at Syracuse football.

Best / Worse Case Record for :

Louisville | Virginia | Miami | Duke | Georgia Tech | Boston College | Pittsburgh | Florida State | Virginia Tech | NC State | Clemson | North Carolina | Wake Forest

Syracuse
Syracuse has won 8 games under Dino Babers. 25% of those wins were against a 10 win Virginia Tech in 2016, and in 2017 against ACC Champion and College Football Playoff team Clemson. Last Syracuse came fairly close to a 9-0 start…. I’m not kidding, the 5 losses Syracuse had were all by single digits. You see glimpses of the potential of this program. That win over Clemson was no fluke either. Dino Babers offensive game plane simply worked that great Clemson defense. If Babers could ever harness those great Syracuse performances for a full season watch out.

Will Go 8-4 (5-3) if:
QB Eric Dungey can stay healthy for an entire season. Dungey is one of the most underrated QB’s in the country. Just ask Clemson’s defense what they thought of Dungey’s well over 300 yards of total offense against them. Syracuse must get off to a fast start. Syracuse’s first 4 games are against Western Michigan, Wagner, Florida State, and Connecticut. If Syracuse can get by the Noles, a 4-0 start is very likely.

The defense has to be better than last year when it ranked 106th in the nation and simply broke down at the end last year giving up over 160 in the final 3 games of the season. Just a marginal improvement would probably get Syracuse to a bowl game.

Will Go 4-8 (1-7) if:
Syracuse has another November collapse. Syracuse has lost 15 of their last 16 November games. The November schedule is a pretty tough one with games at at Wake Forest, Louisville, Notre Dame and at Boston College. Throw in NC State on October 27, and that’s a formidable finish to the year.

The defense especially at linebacker will be really inexperienced, and could leave the Cuse with a huge gap on that side of the ball. The offense lost a lot of talent at wide receiver, and if some players don’t step up to replace the departed Steve Ishmael and Ervin Phillips the offense will have some problems.
