Darrin Hall had a monster week against Duke, Pitt running back Darrin Hall is still having a difficult time securing the starting job.
Hall rushed for 254 yards last weekend against Duke and also had three touchdowns. In one week, he went from fifth on the team in rushing to first. But Pitt’s coaches still want to see more before naming him the guaranteed starter. Hall was still listed as a co-starter with Qadree Ollison on the depth chart released on Monday.
That seems odd but doesn’t mean Hall won’t start. In fact, Pat Narduzzi even said during the press conference that Hall was ‘the guy.’
Pitt also repeatedly says they want to go with the hot hand at running back and my guess is that this is more about an incentive to get a strong week in practice out of him. I don’t know how he doesn’t start against Virginia after the game he had against the Blue Devils.
Still, it’s somewhat odd to see him not earn the guaranteed start on the depth chart after such a strong game last weekend. It also almost makes you wonder if it was simply a mistake. Either way, it sounds as if Darrin Hall will get the start against the Cavaliers this weekend.
