We've mentioned wide receiver Devin Street quite a bit this season in his pursuit of some prestigious records for wide receivers at Pitt. Street is having another stellar year and with a big game against Virginia Tech, can set a school record.
The receiver currently has 172 career receptions, most recently passing up Larry Fitzgerald for third place on the school's all-time list. That puts Street only six catches behind Latef Grim's record of 178 career grabs and seven catches on Saturday would rank Street first all time at Pitt.
There's no doubt that getting this out of the way as soon as possible is the way to go. Seven is no guarantee against the Hokies, who have a pretty stout defense. With 21 catches in four games, though, Street averages a little over five per contest and has twice reached six. The bottom line is that he'll have a shot at the record this weekend, but if he doesn't get it, it should come against Old Dominion in the team's next game.
