Florida State’s BOT had a lot to say on Wednesday.
ESPN’s @ADavidHaleJoint shared his take on the ACC after the events of yesterday.
We highlight some of his most interesting comments.
I don’t want to address every message board rumor, but I’ll talk about 1: FSU does not have a fraud claim to get out of the GoR. I’ve talked to numerous people involved in initial GoR & network launch w/zero incentive to lie. ACCN has paid out beyond projections.

But let’s say Clemson & FSU have a double secret invite in their back pocket. How do you get out of the GoR? Short answer: You can’t. Again, look at Tex & Okla. They had 3 years left on GoR and still had to wait 2 and pay $50M each to leave 1 year early.

Another rumor: There is zero incentive for 8+ teams to leave to dissolve the league. For one, no one has confirmed that’s even possible. Second, teams would get MUCH more by staying and taking payouts from those leaving. Aint happening.

There are other potential outcomes. Maybe ACC finds new $$ or ESPN decides it needs ACC even at a higher cost or maybe the whole landscape of CFB blows up & football breaks away. Maybe we’re all in a simulation & reality is a false construct. All possible, none likely.
