For 25 minutes, Florida State looks lost, confused, and unprepared. There was penalty after penalty. The Seminole’s offensive line was getting manhandled. Chad Kelly was shredding the FSU secondary to pieces. Then the Noles in a shocking turn of a events simply flipped a switch scoring 33 straight unanswered points. From down 28-6 to leading 39-28 and an eventual 45-34 win.
The Seminoles showed it all in this game. Against an inspired Ole Miss that started the game on fire, the Noles played with incredible heart and resiliency making the improbable comeback.
Credit must given to the FSU coaching staff for making tremendous in game adjustments. They went to the short passing when Ole Miss was clearly going to try and take away Dalvin Cook and the running game. Donadre Francois, the freshman QB, was as good as advertised. Under an intense rush most of the evening he was accurate and poised in the pocket. He made few mistakes, and once he got going the Rebels looked helpless.
Let’s not forget about Ricky Aguayo who went 6 for 6 on FGs. Are there anymore Aguayo brothers out there?
I’ll be the first admit, I said FSU looked terrible early. What we saw in the 2nd half where Florida State completely dominated a good Ole Miss team was incredible. The second half version of Florida State outscored Ole Miss 32-6. That was downright scary. That might have been the best half of football any team in the country played this weekend including what Alabama did to USC in that 52-6 win.
It was the greatest comeback in Florida State history, and that is a team capable of winning the national title.
Enjoy that one Florida State fans. You’re team showed heart, resilience, and in the end a dominance that left Ole Miss heads spinning.
