FSU not only lost their opener to #1 Alabama, but took an even bigger hit as Deondre Francois is out for the season..
FSU QB Deondre Francois suffered a patella tendon injury in the 4th quarter against Alabama. Francois was hit from behind by Alabama's Ronnie Harrison.
With Francois out, James Blackman came on at QB against Alabama and should be the man at QB going forward. Here's more on Blackman from Tomahawk Nation.
A three-star recruit coming out of Glades Central High School (Belle Glade, FL), Blackman chose the Seminoles over Florida, West Virginia, and Louisville.
As we wrote earlier this year, Blackman has immense upside, but might need a few years to develop. If Francois is out for a while, he might be asked to be ready sooner, as Jimbo Fisher needs a new quarterback, and J.J. Cosentino hasn’t shown promise during his time in Tallahassee.
The question now is whether or not FSU can battle back from both an opening loss to Alabama and the loss of their star QB.
