Wake Forest will try once again to snap its long losing streak.
Editor's Note: This is an abbreviated preview from what is usually put up. My apologies in advance.
Wake Forest (8-13, 1-8) will try once again to break its losing streak, now up to seven games after Saturday night's loss to Louisville. It will welcome Leonard Hamilton and the Florida State Seminoles (16-5, 5-4) to the Joel for an 8 PM tipoff.
Florida State has won three games in a row after an inauspicious 2-4 start to conference play. As always, the Noles rely on a tall, athletic lineup that causes issues and mismatches on both sides of the court.
Unlike more recent Seminoles teams of the past, this FSU squad is better offensively (17th in the nation in efficiency) than defensively (71st).
6-7 junior Terance Mann has been excellent this season, but particularly the past four games after missing the Syracuse game with a concussion.
Inside Florida State has two 7-footers in the G.O.A.T Christ Koumadje (7-4) and freshman Ike Obiagu (7-0). They will be a tough test for Doral Moore down low, so it will be interesting to see how he does with that height.
The Deacons will continue to try to find some reliability with the back court, with junior PG Bryant Crawford battling turnover issues, committing 20 in his last three games.
Overall I think this is a reasonable matchup for the Deacs and believe the game will be a close one. If Wake can get over the hump of faltering down the stretch I think it can pull out a win tonight and get things turned around headed into a slightly easier stretch after next week.
