There's not much history when it comes to the relationship between Louisville and Duke on the gridiron. Basically, it's just one game (a 40-3 Louisville victory in 2002), a legal issue won by the Blue Devils to get out of playing a second game (more on that later this week), and a viral tweet sent by a (then) backup quarterback.
On Nov. 29, 2012, Teddy Bridgewater put on one of the more heroic performances in Cardinal football history. Despite having a badly injured left arm and left leg, Bridgewater replaced Will Stein in the second quarter and led U of L to a dramatic 20-17 win at Rutgers that sent the Cards to the Sugar Bowl.
It was a performance that wowed the entire country. Except for Duke backup quarterback Anthony Boone, who let the world know that tougher days were on the horizon for Louisville football.

Naturally, the tweet didn't sit well with the Louisville players who saw it. Several responded accordingly, and Boone -- who had completed 49-of-95 passes as the backup QB on a 6-6 Blue Devil squad -- deleted the tweet a few days later.
Boone would throw for more than 2,000 yards in each of the next two seasons, leading Duke to narrow losses in the Chick-fil-a Bowl and Sun Bowl.
