The good news rolls on.
U of L has announced that men’s basketball freshman Dennis Evans is no longer medically cleared the play.
“Freshman center Dennis Evans will not be medically cleared to compete at the University of Louisville moving forward,” a statement from U of L released Thursday night read. “We are disappointed by the news and will not be releasing any additional information out of respect for Dennis’ privacy.”
The 7-foot-1 Evans began the season as Louisville’s starting center and appeared in seven games before being sidelined with a reported shoulder injury.
Evans is currently averaging 1.6 points and 0.9 rebounds per game. His strongest performance came in the season-opener, when he scored seven points and blocked two shots in U of L’s 94-93 win over UMBC.
The highest-ranked player in Kenny Payne’s recruiting class of 2023, Evans was a four-star prospect who was ranked as the No. 25 overall player in the country according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Here’s hoping that whatever is going on with Dennis gets resolved soon and he’s able to return to basketball activities.
