Miami vs. Florida: The #19 Hurricanes traveled up to Gainesville and defeated the Gators in The Swamp, 41-17. Miami's 41 points are the most ever scored against Florida in a home opener and is UF's first home opener loss since 1989. The Hurricanes outgained the Gators in total yards, 529-261. New Miami quarterback Cam Ward had an incredible 'Canes debut with 385 yards and three touchdowns on 26-35 passing, plus 33 yards rushing. Wide receiver Xavier Restrepo caught seven passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. Running back Damien Martinez carried the ball 15 times for 65 yards.
