WINSTON-SALEM-- Codi Miller-McIntyre scored 20 points and Coron Williams added 18 to pace Wake Forest over visiting Presbyterian College 69-48 on Friday night. Miller-McIntyre made the most of his 25 minutes of play, going 6-7 from the free throw line and only committing one turnover. Williams, a graduate student, finally had his breakout game, shooting 43% from the field, going 6-13 from behind the three-point arc. Devin Thomas (10 points, 11 rebounds) recorded his second straight double-double in the victory.
"Coron's ability to shoot the ball was put on display tonight, and he gave us a huge, huge lift," Coach Jeff Bzdelik said. "I think sometimes you're pressing because the fans haven't seen you before, and you want to show the fans and you want to show Dan Collins and everybody that you can shoot and now he's got that monkey off his back."
Presbyterian (0-3) started 3 freshmen and struggled to find open shots against a stingy Demon Deacon defense. The Blue Hose were led by former Greensboro Day standout Reggie Dillard (20 points) and redshirt junior Jordan Downing (18 points). Wake Forest (3-0) held the visitors from Clinton, SC to 36% shooting from the field, and dominated the glass 46-29.
Next up for the Deacs are the Jacksonville Dolphins, who will visit Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Monday night. Tip time is 7:00 p.m.
