The streak is now over. North Carolina State defeated the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Winston-Salem for the first time since 2001. The Wolfpack outscored the Deacs 28-0 in the first quarter en route to a 35-17 victory.
Coach Clawson said it best:
"It was a 12 o clock kickoff and our team showed up about 12:45," Clawson said.

The touchdowns in the first quarter were horrific. The first one should have been a sack, and the second one should have been a tackle at the line of scrimmage. Explosive plays killed Wake Forest last week, and they killed the Deacs again this week. This is the second week with a very poor defensive showing from Wake Forest. NC State had more yards in the first quarter than Wake Forest had in the game.
Matthew Dayes was dominant for the Wolfpack, and finished with 205 rush yards on 16 carries. Jacoby Brissett threw for 227 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.
Kendall Hinton replaced John Wolford mid-way through the contest. Hinton finished the game with just 107 passing yards, but he also ran for 75, including two rushing touchdowns. This included a 69-yard touchdown run. I have no inside information, but I anticipate that Kendall Hinton will start on Friday night against Louisville.
The terrible performance against North Carolina was not a wake up call. Hopefully the horrendous performance against North Carolina State will be. Credit to the Wolfpack for their effort today, but Wake Forest spotted them several touchdowns. That simply cannot happen again. If things don't get better, then Wake Forest will finish this season 3-9.
