The “I” word at Notre Dame is a scary game.
It’s been a tough year for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and it’s about to get tougher - again. Mike Brey and the Irish are forced to shut Matt Farrell down after a bone bruise showed up on an MRI.
Mike Brey says #Irish will shut Matt Farrell down indefinitely with ankle injury

Farrell had a lot of pain on Wednesday morning, which forced the MRI. Fans had hoped a small break in games would allow Matt to get healthier, after coming back for two games and looking a bit rusty.
Farrell suffered an ankle sprain and missed three and a half games, but had returned for the last two ACC games. Even with Farrell in the lineup, the Irish lost both games.
This is another setback for an Irish team that had high (and real) hopes for a Final Four appearance. With a season ending injury to Bonzie Colson, Matt Farrell’s injuries, and DJ Harvey going down with his own bone bruise, Notre Dame would need a miracle to even get seeded in the NCAA Tournament.
