Just more double-doubles over here.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish extended their home-opener winning streak to 18 years under Mike Brey when they took down the Mount St.Mary's Mountaineers on Monday night, 88-62.
Three Irish players scored in double digits, but Bonzie Colson was the big star again with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 steals. It was Colson's 2nd double-double in as many games this season.
Colson wasn't the only Irish player with a double-double under his belt as Rex Pflueger scored 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Matt Farrell equaled Pflueger's point total with 13. TJ Gibbs and Martinas Geben both scored 9 points.
Notre Dame's bench scoring accounted for 17 points from a combination of Elijah Burns, John Mooney, and D.J. Harvey.
It was a bit of a close game in the first half with the score at 38-32. That was until Bonzie Colson drained a shot to end the half with the Irish up 40-32. The second half was a different story as Notre Dame just poured it on the Mountaineers and outscored them by 18 points to finish the game with a 88-62 tally.
Next up for the Irish... the Chicago State Cougars on Thursday, at home, inside Purcell Pavilion.
