The Irish suffer a big loss in the win over Purdue.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team had their last season defined by injuries, and this season is, sadly, heading in the same direction.
Senior guard Rex Pflueger suffered a season ending ACL tear in Notre Dame’s win over the Purdue Boilermakers in the Crossroads Classic.

This is an incredible loss for the Irish on the court, but because Rex is who he is... he’ll be the captain this young team will need off of the court. With Notre Dame’s streaky shooting, defense is what can and will help them win basketball games — and Rex is the best we had.
The Irish also lost Robby Carmody for the season just a week ago due to a torn labrum.

This will only increase the pressure put on freshman Dane Goodwin (not to mention pretty much the entire lineup).
Here’s wishing them both a speedy recovery, and in Pflueger’s case we should all stay so positive and confident in the future when bad luck hits us.
Mike Brey is a great coach, and we get to see, once again, how he handles this adversity as the Irish move towards ACC play in a few weeks.
