We interrupt our football coverage for a quick, but significant, basketball note. As if the Pitt-Duke basketball game at the Pete wasn't big enough already, ESPN upped the ante announcing the game as part of its Big Monday schedule.
The game will be on Monday, January 27th at 7:00 p.m.
Playing Duke at the Pete really doesn't get much bigger for Pitt. The Panthers take on arguably the ACC's premier program in a primetime, nationally-televised matchup.
We've all talked about the initiation that the football team will be getting with the Florida State game. But while the Duke game isn't the basketball team's opener, it's a marquee game that is the headliner of Pitt's basketball contest. In hoops, it's every big as the Florida State football game is.
The two teams last played in the big Madison Square Garden matchup back in 2007 when Pitt pulled off an overtime win. Duke may be the favored team, but at home, expect Pitt to put up a strong fight.
