Casual Hoya is reporting that Syracuse and Georgetown will rekindle their rivalry on December 5th at the Verizon Center.
Late Monday afternoon, our friends at Casual Hoya reported that the Syracuse Orange and Georgetown Hoyas will rekindle their rivalry on Saturday, December 5th at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C..
Casual Hoya reported the game will be televised on Fox Sports 1, however a time has not been announced.
A source close to the Syracuse Orange program told NunesMagician.com that they were "unaware" of the date, and the University has not confirmed anything. Georgetown and Syracuse are expected to finalize their non-conference schedules in September, which is when the date should be officially announced. Until then, nothing will be confirmed.
Syracuse and Georgetown announced a four-year series last year, beginning with the Orange visiting the Hoyas in 2015-16.
As many of you may recall, Syracuse defeated Georgetown in their last meeting, 58-55, in the 2012-13 Big East Tournament. The Orange lost the following night in the finals to Louisville Cardinals, who eventually went on to win the National Championship.
If the report is true, Syracuse would play Wisconsin, St. John's and Georgetown in an 11-day span. SU will also travel to the Bahamas to participate in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Orange could potentially play Connecticut, Michigan, Texas or Gonzaga in the Battle 4 Atlantis.
Syracuse fans shouldn't hear anything about a cupcake non-conference schedule this year.
