Five Things I don't like about the 2025 ACC Football Schedule

The 2025 ACC Football schedule was released a couple of weeks back. As we do each year, we will tell you what we like about it, and later what we don’t like about the schedule. Here’s what we like about the schedule.

Georgia Tech and Louisville playing conference games before in-state rivals.

Georgia Tech and Louisville playing Pitt and SMU before their rival games with Georgia and Kentucky is something the ACC needs to get past doing. For Georgia Tech playing on a short week with a Friday game against the Dawgs is even tougher. Georgia is playing UNC-Charlotte before the Georgia Tech game. Who will be able to prepare better for that game?

Weird BYE Weeks

Florida State and Louisville with a BYE two weeks into the season? Then Miami and UNC with BYE Weeks just a week apart? BYE are supposed help provide a break in the schedule, but when you schedule like that, you don’t get the benefit from the 2 BYE weeks that you should.

Louisville’s opening games

Eastern Kentucky, James Madison, Open Date, and Bowling Green is how Louisville is opening the season. What a snooze fest. When Indiana got out of their series it left Louisville in a bind, but I still don’t have to like it. Louisville is a strong enough program, they should have a strong non-conference opponent in the early part of the schedule. In future years Louisville has games with Georgia and Texas A&M, but this is ugh..

No marquee Week 0 Games

Last year’s Florida State Georgia Tech week 0 game was a massive success. Gameday was there, the ratings were strong, and the entire next week was a discussion of that game. I think the ACC should have at least one marquee game in week 0. Stanford does play Hawaii, which is something I suppose, but I would be looking into this.

Clemson vs Louisville – November 14, 2025

Lots of the Louisville in this article.

I’ve actually come around on Friday night football. With the NFL playing on Thursday night, that night has had the luster taken off college football. Where I have an issue with is when your biggest games end up on Friday. I thought it was bad for the Pac 12 when some of their top 25 matchups ended up on Friday night. Clemson vs Louisville could very well be that this upcoming year, and I’m not a fan of it being on Friday night. Now if we’re talking the Friday after Thanksgiving that’s one thing, but this game probably deserves a Saturday as it’s probably one of the better ACC games going into the season.
