SU blew out URI on Friday, but it came at a cost.

Overshadowed by Syracuse's 47-0 demolition of Rhode Island on Friday was the injury Terrel Hunt suffered midway through the first quarter. After appearing to roll his ankle on a two-yard scamper, Hunt needed to be helped off the field by trainers and later left the field on crutches.

Without Hunt, the Orange plugged in Eric Dungey, who finished 10-of-17 for 134 yards and two touchdown passes before being replaced by Austin Wilson late in the third quarter. Dungey looked like a freshman at times, but he also made a few pretty impressive throws.

Ervin Philips caught both of Dungey's touchdown passes before the hybrid back left the game at halftime with a "lower-body" injury. Other offensive standouts included running backs Jordan Fredericks and George Morris II. Fredericks ran the ball 14 times for 103 yards and a score, while Morris had 71 yards on 12 carries.

On the other side of the ball, SU's defense was just about flawless. It forced four turnovers, managed a safety and allowed only 64 yards of total offense.

Highlights and More

Check out the game highlights, which include touchdowns from Ervin Phillips, Brisly Estime, Jordan Fredericks and Dontae Strickland as well as huge defensive plays by Corey Winfield, Luke Arciniega, Donnie Simmons and many more.

Of course we also need to take note of the unfortunate injury suffered by Terrel Hunt. How long he'll be out remains to be seen but you can't help but feel like "here we go again."

For now though, it was a hell of a win and a win like that calls for a trip to The Varsity...
