Syracuse will host Le Moyne for an exhibition game for the first time since 2010. The game will tip on Nov. 2.
Syracuse will open the season in an exhibition contest against cross town opponent Le Moyne on Nov. 2, according to Syracuse Athletics. The opener will mark Jim Boeheim's 40th season as head coach of the Syracuse Orange.
The last time Syracuse played Le Moyne was in 2010, a game won by Syracuse. Everyone will remember the exhibition game in 2009 won by Le Moyne -- that loss marked the last time Jim Boeheim played man-to-man defense. Following the loss, Boeheim sarcastically congratulated the team on being the second best basketball team in Syracuse.
Le Moyne will be coached by first year head coach, Patrick Beilein. Beilein is the son of John Beilein and played for the legendary coach at West Virginia. Le Moyne will have a tough exhibition schedule as the Dolphins travel to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan on Nov. 6 for a father versus son matchup.
Syracuse could see both Beileins as the Orange have the chance to face off against Michigan in the second round of Battle 4 Atlantis. The last time Boeheim faced both Beileins in one season was Feb 20, 2006 against West Virginia. Patrick Beilein dropped 6 threes on Syracuse for 18 points in a West Virginia loss. (Yes, that one was a stretch)
