First, shooting guard Paul Jesperson transferred out of Virginia back in May, now sophomore shooting guard Taylor Barnette is outta there too.
From the Cavalier Daily:
“Taylor has informed me that he has decided to transfer from our program,” head coach Tony Bennett said. “His main reason is that he wants a bigger role as a player at another school. His release will be granted and we wish him well.”
Playing in 26 games last year, Barnette averaged just 2.6 points per game, although he shot a solid 43-percent from three. In fact, he was 10-18 from three in ACC play.
Word is he’s looking for more playing time and with the return of Malcolm Brogdon (redshirted last year with a broken foot), plus incoming freshmen London Perrantes and Devon Hall, the kid just didn’t see a lot of minutes coming his way.
Barnette becomes the fourth guard and sixth player to leave Virginia since 2011.
