The three biggest ACC football questions of the week. Here we go for Week 6.
Can Florida State upset Clemson?
Sure anything is possible. Northern Illinois did beat Notre Dame after all, but Florida State is a very bad team, and Clemson is starting to become a very good one. It’s that simple. Florida State’s defense which had been decent up to last week, looked awful against SMU. It appears QB DJ Uiagalelei will be out, and Brock Glenn will take the control of the offense. Other than the game being in Tallahassee, I don’t see anything that sets up well in this game for the Noles. Yea they could upset Clemson, but it’s more likely to turn into another ugly affair for the Noles.
How concerned should Miami be after nearly losing to Virginia Tech?
Just when we thought Miami would cruise to the ACC Title game, it took a controversial call to beat Virginia Tech. The Hokies ran for over 200 yards, against the Canes, and now we’re all wondering if Miami is physical enough to be an elite team. A win is a win, but the Canes should be very concerned. Virginia Tech exposed a lack of toughness with Miami, that they need to rectify immediately. They head on the road against a physical Cal team, with healthier Jayden Ott. Cal has a run game that could pose a lot problems for Miami. Gameday will be there too. Miami better bring their A game.
Is Pittsburgh ready to contend in the ACC?
Pittsburgh is 4-0 with two P4 wins, but there is still some skepticism about the Panthers. UNC is reeling after giving up 70 points 2 weeks and blowing a 20-point 2nd half lead against rival Duke. If Pittsburgh is ready to contend in the ACC, they go to Chapel Hill and take care of a UNC team, that’s hanging by a thread. QB Eli Holstein should be able to pick apart the Geoff Collins defense as Pitt closes in on a top-25 ranking. I think you’ll see Pitt now enter the ACC dark horse picture.
