The three biggest ACC football questions of the week. Here we go for Week 7.

Will the loser of Georgia Tech vs UNC miss the post-season?

Neither Georgia Tech nor UNC will challenge for the ACC Title, but this is a hugely pivotal game for both teams’ post-season hopes. Georgia Tech is 4-2, but Notre Dame, Miami, and Georgia are top 15 opponents. Virginia Tech is on the road. UNC on the road. NC State is the only game you might feel comfortable with if you’re Georgia Tech. UNC is reeling at losers of 3 straight at 3-3, and 3 of their last 5 games are on the road. All are ACC matchups too. This feel likes a loser leave-town match. I don’t think the loser makes a bowl game given their schedules.

Will Virginia stamp themselves and ACC factor this weekend?

One of the quietest stories of this year’s ACC is the resurgence of Virginia football. If you aren’t paying attention the Hoos are 4-1 and 2-0 in the ACC. They get Louisville at home this weekend who are coming off 2 straight losses. If Virginia gets to 5-1, you can’t ignore them in the ACC. I like their chances too. Louisville was competitive against Notre Dame but were surprisingly sloppy against SMU. There is a ton of pressure on them not to let the season slip away. Virginia on the other hand has already exceeded expectations and should be able to play loosely. It’s been a while, but Virginia football may be about to make some noise.

Can Pitt get to 6-0?

Pitt is the ACC’s most surprising team. At 5-0 with 2 OOC p4 wins, and already 1-0 in the ACC. This was a team that got by earlier in the season with grit and a bit of good fortune. Now they are turning into a team that is becoming extremely dangerous. They have big-time QB play with Eli Hotstein, and RB Rodney Hammond is getting back into game shape. The offense is one best in all of college football. Cal is coming off an emotional loss tough loss to Miami, and might be a team that is spent coming into this one. I think you’ll see Pitt get to 6-0 and keep moving up the rankings.
