Game Recap

Syracuse earned its first ACC win of the season by defeating Boston College at home.

Tonight fans were treated to a battle of undefeated ACC teams as both Boston College and the Syracuse Orange looked to get its first victory in the conference. The game got off a sluggish start but Syracuse was able to take a 21-2 run into the half to lead the Golden Eagles 30-15. Ultimately, Syracuse would prevail 62-40.

Fifth year senior Eli Carter hit back to back threes to open up the contest, but Syracuse was able to weather the early storm. Michael Gbinije looked like his old self by scoring 12 first half points. He'd continue his sharp play in the second half to finish with 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and four steals.

Boston College doesn't have a true power forward on its roster which gave Tyler Roberson a distinct advantage on the glass. The junior forward had a double-double even before picking up his fourth foul with 14:41 left in the second half. His night was done early, but he finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds nonetheless.

After scoring 27 points on Saturday, Trevor Cooney had a rather uninspiring game, not scoring until the 8:11 mark in the second half.

Malachi Richardson lead all scorers with 15 points by going 6-6 from the free-throw line.

All-in-all the zone was effective as Syracuse forced the Golden Eagles into 16 turnovers and 31.9 percent shooting. It should be taken with a grain of salt as Boston College only scores 66.3 points per game and shoots 42.7 percent from the floor. Syracuse also out-rebounded Boston College 35-27 and out-scored them in the paint.

The Orange now move to 11-7 on the season and 1-4 in the ACC. The team enters another tough stretch of basketball by going on a three game road trip. Syracuse takes on Wake Forest on Saturday, Duke on Monday followed by Virginia on the 23rd. The latter two will be aired on ESPN.
