Game Recap

This was an intriguing matchup to watch, not only due to the fact that both teams reside in Florida but the overall athletic ability by each.

RailsIt was certain that one would see some high-flying action in this one and that is what the people got.  Florida State looked to use their size against a much smaller Florida Gulf Coast team but the Seminoles were given a tough battle throughout the matchup.

FSU came out on the winning side of this one, taking down FGCU 86-80 but every time the Noles made a run of their own, FGCU would have an answer of their own.  Florida State was able to expand their lead to double-digits multiple times but grinded one out to a six point win.

Dwayne Bacon, who has struggled down the stretch of the year, led the way with 25 points and shot the ball well, going 11-for-17 from the field.  Jonathan Isaac finished with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The three ball didn’t fall much for the Seminoles (2-for-13) but shot the ball extremely well overall, shooting 55 percent while also getting to the free throw line (24-for-39).

For Florida Gulf Coast, they were led by Brandon Goodwin who led all scorers with 28 points.  Zach Johnson chipped in 17 points as well in the loss.

Florida State will now move on and face Xavier in the Round of 32.
