Pittsburgh vs. Virginia: The Cavaliers defeated the Panthers 57-56 in wild fashion in their ACC opener. With possession under their own hoop and 11 seconds on the clock, Virginia found themself down by four to Pittsburgh. Then Jayden Gardner got a three-point play, Virginia forced a five-second count on the Pitt inbounds, and then Gardner got an offensive rebound and made the game-winning shot for UVA. Virginia had been winning for the entire first half until Pitt went on an 11-0 run to take a four-point lead. Gardner was the Cavaliers leading scorer with 15 points, plus he had five rebounds and four assists. Armaan Franklin was the only other Virginia player to score in double-figures, scoring 10 points. For Pittsburgh, John Hugley's 12 points led the way for the Panthers.
