If there is a team in the ACC that’s a had roller-coaster season it’s Virginia Tech. Most pre-season rankings had the Hokies in the top 25. On January 26, they sat 10-10 and were 2-7 in the ACC. There were whispers that the Hokies might be the most disappointing team in the ACC.
Not even 3 weeks later, Virginia Tech has moved to the cusp of the bubble after a 6 game winning streak and hard-fought win Monday over a red-hot Virginia team.
Keve Aluma is getting himself back into the 1st team All-ACC conversation.
Aluma putting himself in play for 1st all ACC again. He always plays well vs the hoos. #hokies

I’m not sure Mike Young can work himself back into the ACC COY race, but he certainly might be the ACC Coach of the 2nd half of the conference season for leading Virginia Tech’s resurgence.
The Hokies have taken advantage of a soft recent schedule, going 3-0 against Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech. Monday was a litmus test of where Virginia Tech really was. Virginia was a team that had won 4 in a row themselves, including a win at Duke and against Miami.
Virginia Tech held Virginia scoreless from three and defeated Virginia 62-53.
They now set themselves up for a monster game against UNC on Saturday.
The Hokies are 38 in the NET ranking which is a boost, but they still lack Q1 wins. The only Q1 game left on the Hokies schedule is at Miami, but with that said if they win 4 of their last 5 for a 20-11 (12-8) top 45 NET ranking, they probably just need 1 win ACCT to make the dance.
A few weeks ago the NCAAs and Virginia Tech couldn’t even be discussed in the same sentence.
Now here comes Virginia Tech making a major move at the right time.
