85 - 68 
Move along folks, nothing to see here. I try to stay engaged in these kinds of games, but sometimes it's, well, a challenge. Loyola Marymount gave Pitt a little bit of a game in the first half, but as expected, Pitt had little trouble with them tonight in an 85-68 win.
Just not much to take away from this game other than another dominant win. A lot has been made of the Panthers' light schedule but it's also worth noting what Pitt has done with it in beating team after team by 20 points or so. Pitt has been challenged a little from the likes of Penn State and Duquesne, but other than that, the games just haven't been real close.
Five guys got into double figures for Pitt, and Cam Wright led the way with 14 points on 7-9 shooting. James Robinson was the only starter not to get into double figures ... and even he had nine. But one guy that really impressed me tonight was Jamel Artis. In addition to the eight points and seven rebounds he had, he just stood out and busted his butt when he got in the game. Artis is an interesting the case and he looked like a guy that could see his minutes considerably shrink in the season with guys like Lamar Patterson, Mike Young, and Durand Johnson. But he's making a decent case to not get squeezed out of the rotation and looked really aggressive.
A couple of down spots here. Pitt again shot poorly from beyond the arc and made only one of their eight shots back there and they're really cooling off from long distance. They were only 2-11 against Penn State and in the game before that, were only 3-16 against Duquesne. Add it all up boys and girls, and Pitt is shooting a dismal 17% from three-point range over their past three games. So, yeah, that's got to get better.
Pitt also (unofficially, anyway), lost the rebounding battle 37-35. 6'7" freshman Gabe Levin gave Pitt trouble all night and had 14 boards. That can't happen, obviously. A guy like Lamar Patterson who had only two boards, and even the guards to some extent (Robinson and Wright combined for only two rebounds), have to do more there.
Other than that, though, another ho hum win for Pitt. Hard to find too much to complain about in a 17-point win.
