We already knew the non conference slate was going to be brutal, with games against Kentucky and Michigan State plus a possible meeting with Louisville all before the middle of December. So it's good to see the conference slate isn't too demanding. UNC catches their only meeting with Syracuse in the Carrier Dome while the university is on winter break, which is the best we could hope for there. The Heels also have only two Saturday-Monday games; one of the Monday matches is on the road against Virginia, where at least the team ail have time to rest during the Cavaliers glacial-paced offense. The other comes against Florida State, who are still rebuilding after winning the conference title two seasons ago.
Tar Heel fans won't have to search the dial for many games, as only two conference meetings are broadcast on the often hidden ESPNU — games against Wake and Clemson. They're joined by the early Hall of Fame Tipoff matchups in Chapel Hill, and the stretch of winter break games in the Dean Dome where Carolina plays some sacrificial lambs. Everything else is headed to ESPN 1 and 2, CBS, or your local affiliate.
Oh, and here's an interesting fact courtesy of Adam Lucas: UNC hasn't beaten Wake Forest in an ACC opener since 1968. Look for that to change as Jeff Bzdelik is still at the helm in Winston-Salem. Heck, UNC fans might even outnumber Demon Deacons in the crowd.
