For your viewing pleasure, Larry Fedora's weekly Monday press conference. Fedora dives into the quarterback issue right out of the gate in hopes of avoiding "78 questions" on the topic. It doesn't really work as the assembled media probe and prodded regarding his decision to bench Marquise Williams in favor of Mitch Trubisky.
The bottom line from Fedora is there is no controversy. This was an isolated decision pertaining to the game on Saturday and apparently has no bearing on the status quo as far as the starter goes. Fedora indicated he has talked to Willliams and the fifth year senior understands the reasons for the change.
That lends itself to the notion Fedora made the move to challenge Williams who, frankly, has struggled passing the ball this season. Williams has been off the mark quite a bit and even in completing passes, the throws are not on target which disrupts the timing certain plays. That was noticeably improved with Trubisky in the game leading him to 312 yards passing and four touchdowns.
This is also a good problem to have. Williams isn't a bad quarterback though there is a clear difference in the passing skill between the two quarterbacks. Either option UNC goes which should be productive. In fact should Fedora opt to use Trubisky more, there is no reason why you can't play to the strength of both depending on the situation.
