Last week, Pitt found themselves as the favorite against Virginia in their big homecoming matchup. This week, though, it's a different story.
Facing Virginia Tech on the road, the Panthers are nine-point underdogs as of Wednesday against the Hokies. Really, it's hard to complain about that too much. Pitt certainly can win this game with a good effort, but at home, Virginia Tech has to be the clear favorite here.
It's not only that the game is on the road for Pitt, either. The Panthers are off to a 3-1 start and while that's encouraging, they don't have the quality of wins that the Hokies do. That, of course, isn't really their fault, but Virginia Tech's wins over Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and East Carolina are certainly more impressive than what Pitt has on their resume.
You shouldn't get freaked out by the nine-point spread. After all, Pitt was an even bigger underdog (10.5 points) last season and, well, we saw what happened there.
