WINSTON-SALEM--Tanner Price threw for 268 yards and ran for another 82 to help lead the underdog Wake Forest Deacons to a 28-13 victory over visiting N.C. State on Saturday. Price was the Deacs' leading rusher on the day, breaking his own personal record previously set at Army.

Box Score

Senior flanker Michael Campanaro had another banner afternoon, catching 12 passes for 153 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tight end Spencer Bishop also got in on the aerial attack, snagging a 54-yard Price pass just before the half that set Wake Forest up at the State 10 yard line.

"With the schedule we have ahead of us, we felt our backs were against the wall and we just came out with a lot of energy, and that's what we needed as an offense because we felt were lacking it," Bishop said. "We came out with a lot of energy and it showed."

Coach Grobe was effusive in his praise for the total team effort by the Deacs, who evened their record at 3-3 (1-2 ACC) going into a bye week.

"We had an offensive group that had some energy today," Grobe said. "It's the first really good feeling I've had about our O-line and receiveres. That whole group of guys wanted to come out and prove they could play football."

Grobe is now one win away from tying Peahead Walker atop Wake Forest's record book for total coaching wins. N.C. State is now winless in it's last six visits to Winston-Salem, dating back to 2003. Next up for the Deacs is a bye week, followed by a visit from Maryland on Homecoming.
