The Demon Deacons open as nearly a two touchdown favorite over in-state rival Duke.
Following a nail biting 30-24 victory over the N.C. State Wolfpack, the 7-4 Wake Forest Demon Deacons open as a 12 point favorite over the visiting Duke Blue Devils. Duke had a surprising 43-20 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday to get to 5-6 on the season, but needs one more win to guarantee bowl eligibility.
Odds are that Duke will make it to a bowl game even with a loss to Wake Forest this weekend based on a very good APR score, but nobody wants to backdoor into a bowl at 5-7.
Wake Forest is 9-2 against the spread this season, including winning all five games that it has been favored in outright. Duke is 6-5 against the spread coming into the game.
If the Deacs win it will secure just the 3rd 8 win regular season in school history, and the first since 2007. It will also win the “state championship”, with victories over Appalachian State, N.C. State, and Duke if it can win.
The kickoff will be at 12:30 on Saturday, and will air on RSN (as well as the ACC Network/Watch ESPN app). The weather appears to be very similar to this past Saturday, but I hope for all of us that the wind is not blowing as hard as it did.
