Bad news for the Demon Deacons.
Jared Crump, who had 32 receptions for 339 yards last season, suffered what appears to be a serious injury during Tuesday's practice. Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson told Les Johns of Deacons Illustrated, as well as other media members, "We're not optimistic." Crump is scheduled to have an MRI later in the week.

Crump, a 6'3" redshirt junior from Florida, was projected to be a starter this season along with Cortez Lewis and Tabari Hines. Assuming the injury is as serious as Clawson is implying, how will the Demon Deacons adjust?
K.J. Brent, a graduate transfer from South Carolina will see an increased role, as will redshirt sophomore Tyree Harris. Another player to keep an eye on is true freshman Steven Claude from Miami, Florida. He was highly touted coming out of high school, and the Deacs may no longer have the luxury of redshirting the young man. He's talented, but he's also a freshman. In the slot, it will be worth watching if Chuck Wade plays as a true freshman.
This is a blow for the Deacs. Besides Cam Serigne's 54 receptions, Crump was the team's returning leader in receptions with 32. The next closest returner? Freshman running back Isaiah Robinson, who had 9. Like the coaching staff, I'm hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst. The entire Blogger So Dear staff is thinking about Jared, and wishing him a full recovery.
