Last Week: 4-3 Overall: 59-17
Virginia Tech vs. Boston College
Who responds better after a disappointing effort last week? Virginia Tech's offense was horrific against Duke, and Boston College had a terrible outing against the passing game on both offense and defense. If Boston College is going to spring an upset here, Chase Rettig needs to have a big game passing. Andre Williams is going to have some difficulty getting a lot going in the running game. For Virginia Tech, Logan Thomas needs to not throw the football to the other team. If he can do it, then Virginia Tech should be in good shape. Don't expect a lot of points in this game, mostly because the Hokies will not be a threat on offense, and they will not allow the Eagles to be a threat. I like the Hokies barely in this game. Virginia Tech 17, Boston College 13
North Carolina vs. NC State
After getting off to a strong start, the Wolfpack have lost three straight. Meanwhile, UNC has played two of its best games of the season in the past two weeks. Perhaps they have steered what was a sinking ship? This game will ultimately come down to quarterback play. Whoever plays the best will win. I will go with North Carolina thanks to Bryn Renner (and occasionally Marquise Williams). I do think NC State will be in this game the whole way, but the Heels will ultimately win. North Carolina 31, NC State 24
Wake Forest vs. Syracuse
You have to give Jim Grobe some credit for turning Wake's season around. The Deacs played a lot better in the month of October, and a bowl game is not out of the question. Syracuse is coming off of a bye week, and they needed it given how poorly they played against Georgia Tech two weeks ago. But I don't think it will help here. Syracuse's secondary has been banged up lately, which is good news for Michael Campanaro. He will have another double digit catch game, which would be his fourth in a row. Because of that, the Deacs will get the win on the road. Wake Forest 20, Syracuse 17
Clemson vs. Virginia
It's been a tough couple of weeks for Clemson. They pretty much failed to show up against Florida State, and eventually showed up against Maryland, but it took a while. But this is the week they get back on track. Virginia has lost five straight, and the next loss will make them ineligible for a bowl. While the Cavs offense has played better lately, the defense has regressed. And two of Virginia's best cornerbacks are out for this game, which means Tajh Boys is going to have himself a game. Clemson wins handily. Clemson 45, Virginia 24
Pittsburgh vs. Georgia Tech
In Pitt's warm up test to this game, the Panthers lost at Navy, even though they did what you're supposed to do against a team that runs the triple option, which is to control the time of possession. Pitt held the ball for over 34 minutes, but they were not able to stop Navy's rushing attack, and since they could not do that against Navy, I don't see how they're going to do it against Georgia Tech, who runs a much better version of the same offense. This one will be a blowout. Georgia Tech 41, Pitt 17
Miami vs. Florida State
This is by far the game of the week, and the second biggest game of the season for the ACC. Miami has lucked in to their last two wins, and sits at 7-0 on the season. Meanwhile, Florida State has been rolling all season long, thanks to Jameis Winston. Miami's best chance for an upset is to hope Winston plays more like a freshman, which he has yet to do this season. But there's no reason to believe he won't have one of those games now. Winston's going to have yet another monster game, and FSU will roll again. Florida State 48, Miami 24
