"Unofficially," of course...
Technically, the Syracuse Orange are still closing out the 2016 recruiting cycle, with the ongoing Taurean Thompson waiting game the only thing left to sort out. But in the meantime, the 2017 cycle -- a critical one for SU -- is already in full swing.
One of the Orange's various pursuits is four-star (or five-star, depending on who you ask) center Nick Richards. The 6-foot-11 Elizabeth, N.J. product is heading up to SU for an unofficial visit this weekend. Yesterday, he tweeted he was en route:
Syracuse Bound

Richards included Syracuse in his top five earlier in June, along with Arizona, Indiana, Kentucky and UConn. He hasn't indicated a timetable as of yet.

Getting a big man for 2017 is a top priority for SU, given the amount of open space on the roster, especially in the front court. DaJuan Coleman and Tyler Roberson complete their eligibility this season, leaving Paschal Chuwkwu as the only true big remaining on the roster for 2017-18 at current.
