The final piece has been put into place.
Thursday night’s announcement from Nebraska-Omaha that the Mavericks will be taking on Louisville on Nov. 17 at the KFC Yum Center put the final piece in the puzzle that is U of L’s 2017-18 non-conference basketball schedule.
The season tips off in exactly 100 days.
Here’s the full rundown of what we’re working with here:
Nov. 12 — vs. George Mason
Nov. 17 — vs. Nebraska-Omaha
Nov. 21 — vs. Southern Illinois
Nov. 24 — vs. St. Francis (Pa.)
Nov. 28 — At Purdue (ACC-Big 10 Challenge)
Dec. 3 — vs. Seton Hall
Dec. 9 — vs. Indiana
Dec. 11 — vs. Bryant
Dec. 16 — vs. Memphis (Gotham Classic at Madison Square Garden in NY)
Dec. 20 — vs. Albany
Dec. 23 — vs. Grand Canyon
Dec. 29 — At Kentucky
It’s certainly not the sexiest lineup the Cardinals have ever faced, but Kentucky, Purdue and Seton Hall should all be in the thick of March Madness, and Indiana and Memphis are still relevant names on the national stage.
St. Francis PA, though ... St. Francis PA has gotta fall. We’re comin’ for you, Red Flash.
