ACC Bowl Projections for 11/4

This week will could decide the bowl fate of Florida State. Of course anything is possible, but I think this is one of Oregon’s and Alabama’s last realistic shots at losing. Oregon is at Stanford and Alabama plays LSU. It’s not vintage a LSU team, but athletically they still matchup decently with the Tide.

Chick

* The Kraft Fight Hunger could be a bowl destination if the ACC gets a 9th bowl eligible team, but only if BYU and the Pac 12 can’t fulfill their commitment to the bowl.

Fri, Dec 27 2:30 pm ESPN
Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman
Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, Annapolis, MD
C-USA vs. ACC No. 8

Projected Matchup: Boston College vs Marshall

Boston College really enhanced their bowl chances with that huge win over reeling Virginia Tech. Keep an eye on the final week of the season’s game with Syracuse. That game could decide who appears in this bowl.

Sat, Dec 28 3:20 pm ESPN
Belk Bowl
Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
AAC No. 3 vs. ACC No. 5

Projected Matchup: Virginia Tech vs Houston

The Hokies are limping to the finish line. Thankfully for them the schedule  is very soft after the game at Miami game with a home contest against Maryland and a finish with a Virginia team that’s pretty much packed up for the winter.

Sat, Dec 28 6:45 pm ESPN
Russell Athletic Bowl
Florida Citrus Bowl, Orlando, FL
ACC No. 3 vs. AAC No. 2

Projected Matchup: Clemson vs. Louisville

No change here, in a game that I think would be a lot of fun. A future ACC matchup as well. Tajh Boyd vs Teddy Bridgewater… more please.

Mon, Dec 30 3:15 pm ESPN
Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl
LP Field, Nashville, TN
SEC No. 7 vs. ACC No. 6

Projected Matchup: Georgia Tech vs Ole Miss

Georgia Tech is bowl eligible for a remarkable 17th straight year after their win over Pittsburgh. The Jackets will finish no worse than 7-5, but if they can upset Clemson or Georgia they could move up.

Tue, Dec 31 12:30 pm ESPN
AdvoCare V100 Bowl
Independence Stadium, Shreveport, LA
ACC No. 7 vs. SEC

Projected Matchup: Maryland vs Tennessee

I still have Maryland vs Tennessee in this game. Let’s be honest this is a snoozer of a bowl.

Tue, Dec 31 2 pm CBS
Hyundai Sun Bowl
Sun Bowl, El Paso, TX
ACC No. 4 vs. Pac-12 No. 4

Projected Matchup: Duke vs. Arizona State

Duke in the Sun Bowl? Sure why not, but the Blue Devils sights are higher, they control their own destiny in the Coastal. Win out they own tiebreakers over Virginia Tech and Miami. Now if Georgia Tech wins out it could get really messy as they beat Duke. They’d have to win at Clemson though.  Duke has an opportunity to have a really special season.

Tue, Dec 31 8 pm ESPN
Chick-fil-A Bowl
Georgia Dome, Atlanta, GA
ACC No. 2 vs. SEC No. 5

Projected Matchup: Miami vs Missouri

Missouri is legit and this would be an intriguing game and a nice reward for a Canes program that is building. The Chick-fil-A could still take Clemson, but I’m giving the edge to Miami for now.

Fri, Jan 3 TBD ESPN
Discover Orange Bowl
Sun Life Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL
BCS vs. BCS (ACC champion if not in BCS championship)

Projected Matchup: Florida State vs Wisconsin

Am I missing something? Why do so many bowl projections keep putting UCF in this game. Is it a matter of ticket sales or ratings? UCF is a quality team, but does the Orange Bowl really take a non-Power 5 conference team for a 2nd straight year. Wisconsin would be a interesting matchup and would bring a ton of fans.
