One of the big final pieces to fall into place with the ACC next season is the landing spot of #1 recruit, Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins is still considering two ACC schools, Florida State and UNC. Here are some articles that will catch you up on the latest Andrew Wiggins news...
With the May 15 deadline to sign a letter of intent coming up in a little over a month, it looks like the wait to see where Andrew Wiggins will end up playing college basketball will stretch out for a few more agonizing weeks.
Wiggins has been in no rush to make a final decision, leaving the four schools remaining on his list (Kentucky, FSU, Kansas and North Carolina) on pins and needles to see where the best prospect in the 2013-2014 recruiting class will end up.
Analyzing the chances of landing Andrew Wiggins
Andrew Wiggins. It’s the name of one kid that has consumed the concentration of four of the nation’s best basketball programs over the last several months. Florida State, Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina have put all their efforts into recruiting the nation’s best player for the class of 2013. Yet, nobody has any idea where he will commit.
Will Andrew Wiggins wait until the final day?
The college basketball season is effectively done with for the Triangle. For the third straight year, none of the ACC's "Big Four" from North Carolina made it to the grandest hoops stage the NCAA offers. Not much to talk about until fall practices open up in six months, right? Save for one very important "decision," and I hesitate calling it a "decision," because that just springs images of this ego trip:
Could "Air Canada" land in Chapel Hill?
The Associated Press’ Dave Skretta had a chat with Nick Wiggins, the brother of number one overall recruit Andrew Wiggins, today at the Final Four media day. Here is are the tweets Skretta sent out after the conversation.
Wiggins still interested in Kansas
Leonard Hamilton has pulled off a number of recruiting coups during his 11 years at Florida State.
Forward Chris Singleton chose FSU over Kentucky. Shooting guard Michael Snaer counted Kansas, UCLA and Missouri among his finalists before signing with the Seminoles. And while he didn’t enjoy quite the same level of collegiate success as the others, power forward Uche Echefu was being courted by North Carolina, Kentucky and Maryland when Hamilton won him over.
The pieces are all coming together. Andrew Wiggins does not appear to be heading to Lexington, Kentucky. His brother Nick Wiggins spoke about this over the weekend.
“They’ve got a couple kids coming (back), they got seven or eight dudes that are already signed to come in off the (McDonald’s) All-America team, and I don’t feel like it would be the best fit for him to make his own legacy,” Nick Wiggins told YahooSports Jeff Eisenberg. “But in the end, he’s going to make the best decision for him.”
